Scanned at last : Sept 10 buck

It took long enough, but I finally got a picture scanned of this year's buck. I shot it September 10 and about half of the bucks at that time were still in velvet.

The whole story, should you care for a bit of reading, is at

Wow! That is a very nice buck, you should be proud! Killing a buck in partial velvet is alot of people's goal, they look good on the wall.<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Thanks guys.

Jred, I believe he weighed about 140 lb dressed. Our whitetails west of the Rockies aren't as big as the brutes they get out on the prairies.

TxCowboy, I agree 100%; antlers in velvet look neat. This guy was still fully in velvet but the other buck he was travelling with was completely rubbed.

Nice buck. Congratulations [quote]he weighed about 140 lb dressed. Our whitetails west of the Rockies aren't as big as the brutes they get out on the prairies./quote] LOL!! 140# dressed IS a brute in my area. My heaviest so far was an 8pt that dressed at about 120#.

canuck that is a nice buck, I have always dreamed of getting one in velvet, but it seems they shed their velvet in my area before bow opens.
