RE: Old doe question
We have a theory, me and some friends. That old doe is smart. Very smart. She will pass on her knowledge to her offspring. So, the way I see it, she is an asset to the herd by raising smarter deer. Now a hunter might not like that, but I do.
Wasn't Fred Bear on record as saying his hardest deer was an old doe? She was harder to get than any buck he had hunted? My opinion, she is older and probably not as tasty as a younger doe. I would let her walk and try to get a younger doe for meat. Just my opinion. --Jim |
