Anyone know where to find good deals on ammo
I just bought a 7mm mag, and the ammo is pretty high. I was wondering if ya'll know of anywhere to get good deals on ammo. I know Wally World, but I was looking for any other good deals. One choice I was thinking about is I have a friend that reloads. Is this a good idea, and if it is what grain cartridge should I use.

If you have a friend that reloads ,then that would be the way to go if he is willing to spend the time teaching you how . I would think the best bullet weight would be the same as your shooting now for deer .You made a choice of bullet weight when you purchased ammo so why change because you are reloading it unless you were disappointed with performance.

Like propman said, you can find good deals on the internet. The only catch is to save money you need to buy in bulk. The best solution I found is to start reloading. The inital cost is quite a bit, but once you get going it payes for itself. A good starter kit is a Lee set. You can order one on the internet. I like reloading because once you get use to it you can reload a much more accurate bullet than factory bullets. You can also make what every you want. I understand your situation, I like to hunt with my 44mag and 454 casual. The ammo for either is not cheap. The only way I can afford to shoot these guns is to reload.

Don't know if this is a good deal or not, but this is the best price I have found for my 44.

Feburary at Wall-Mart.<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> Everything you can imagine goes on sale at the end of hunting season here. Those 150 grain Core-lokts I use go down to around eight bucks a box.

thanks for everyones replies. Those sites were good, but you are right about the shipping. I'm not sure that it would save that much when shipping is added in. Walmart is $20 a box. As for reloading, I was wondering around how much the kit costs. My friend swears by it, and I thought I might be able to pay him some to do it for me. Anyway thanks again for your replies.

Bass Pro Shops has a sale on now in my area here in NC, I don't know about yours. Yes reloading is the best way to go if you shoot more than a box or two per year. I used to reload for my brother's 7mm mag before he died and I think I was loading a 145 grain bullet. There is something about the 7mm bullet that is pure murder on deer.

I guess your best price depends on what part of the country you live in. I have used several local suppliers, but for the 7mm mag, you might not have the greatest selection going to Wally world. Try a few brands and bullets to see what works best in your gun for the type of shooting you will be doing. Then search for the best deal on that 1 particular cartridge. I am going to be getting mine this year from http://www.sportsmansguide.com/. Pretty comparable on the deals to local discounters (including shipping) and much more in selection.
Good luck!
