Ok, did some comparing, and here are some energy comparisons all at 100 yards..

12ga Sabot slug 385 grain 2400ft/lbs
30-30 170 grain 1900ft/lbs
30-06 168 grain 2600ft/lbs
.375 h&h ultra mag 300 grain 4178ft/lbs

Again, just my opinion, but I think that if you are using anything other than the .375 (not recomended for deer sized animals) the delivered energy would be the most in a slug, as the nose is flat, and going to deliver more energy, as opposed to an easier, less resistant pass through with a rifle cartridge. Again...just my opinion, but I would like to see actual data on energy delivery formulas, as now i am just curious.

Not exactly what you are looking for, but this is a good read, if not lengthy and detailed.

What is the most deadly out of the following:
Rifle bullet-basic 150 grain bullet
Slug gun- with a regular sabot or slug
Bow and arrow- with good arrows shot at a normal speed
Muzzleloader- with maybe a 230 grain bullet
Crossbow-the reg
Shotgun-00 3 1/2 buck shot
You should add RiverBottomBowHunter to that list. If you did that then I would choose RiverBottomBowHunter.

i believe the 3 1/2" mag. distributes 18 pellets. my vote goes to the 3 1/2" mag. everything i have shot with it, drops like wet laundry.

All are deadly with the same correct shot placement. Some just kill in different ways. Any of those through both lungs means death in less than a minute.
