How much does a Positive Attitude mean huntin'?
I know there are so many variables that come into play when hunting. Not much has been expressed about having a positive attitude. I honestly think it is a hugh factor. Any thoughts on this?

jimmy in reality you are right it is all about a positive attitude, there is no way with a negative attitude that you can do any of the things needed to get a deer, you would do everything half way and would not pay enough attention to all of the details to get one.

I concur, with anything a person does, a large part of the result is directly tied to their frame of mind or attitude. The old antage "You reap what you sew" is very true. However I think most hunters look at hunting as pure enjoyment and as such any day in the field is a true blessing. Hence why attitude or frame of mind is rarely brought up in How to's or questions. I do know that if I personally am thinking nothing good will happen, it rarely does...but I always expect to take something out of each day in the field, this could be experience, sightings, harvest or whatever seems to always keep me focused and in an excellent frame of mind.

If I didn't think I was about to see a deer, shoot a deer, or jump a deer at any minute, I wouldn't be hunting. I think a positive attitude is the number 1 hunting tool. That is why I try to buy the best equipment I can afford. If I'm worried about my equipment, I'm not in a positive mood and my success goes down. WOW, that's pretty deep.

I agree with Portage, and that's what I love about deer hunting. No matter what the hell else has fallen apart in life, deer hunting is always positive for me. I'm always expecting the best when I go hunting and always expecting that monster buck to appear thru the trees. When I lose that positive apprehension, I'll retire from hunting.

A positive attitude is required. Keep the same enthusiasm/expectations the 7th hour in your stand that you had the 1st. Good Luck and be patient.

A possitive attitude is good in whatever you do. It helps the person mentally.
But having a positive attitude in my deer hunting hasn't helped me yet this year. Every little noise I hear I turn around looking for the buck I call forky. He was a 12 pointer last year with forks on his g1 & G2 of his right antler. My positive attitude hasn't helped with that yet

I always try and maintain a positive attitude, but I think in reality that has nothing to do with seeing game or getting it. Last year I was sitting in a tree miserable and frustrated cause I hadn't seen any deer in several days, when a nice buck walked out and I shot him. Turned my spirits right around. I know some guys who are the most upbeat positive people but don't shoot any deer, they have fun and keep trying though, which is the most important part.

It has nothing to do with getting game. I saw this first hand last year, buddy didnt want to go, didnt want to hunt that area, was ticked off at anything anyone did, wanted to leave, didnt want to hunt that spot again. I forced him into going to sit in the stand he just had left 45 minutes earlier,, 20 minutes after he sat down he killed the biggest buck anyone I know has ever gotten!
