RE: Deer coming in at dark so disapointing!

Got the same problem here in upstate New York. Maybe once we get rid of that gol darn moon we can do some decent hunting. Also I've seen some rubs and the pre rut activity may bring out the deer earlier as the rut approaches. Hang in there Doe Doe (I love saying that).

Come next week you will have favorable moon phase with the 4th as no moon at all. That should get them moving earlier in the evening and later at dawn. I have rarely seen deer move when there is a full 2/3 moon available for late night feeding. Headed for the Dacks on the 2nd.............CANT WAIT!!!!

I agree with the above when the moon changes so will the deer.........

The other option is to move the stands closer to the bedding area so they don't have as far to go till they get to you!
Good Luck

I have a feeling there is more to do with pressure and hunger than the moon, at least in my area, I saw 4 doe 2 hours before sunset yesterday and another 2 about another hour later. I have in my area noticed most deer do not move in the morning during a full moon, but even that is not 100%. Last friday I saw 3 doe in the afternoon well before sundown. I am not discrediting the moon phase deal at all, but I have found it not to be 100% accurate. Deer move when hungry or pushed, just like fish bite when they are hungry.

Yeah, if you know where they're coming from or where the bedding areas are...you'll have to move the stand closer to that area.

We have had some very good weather this year and its has made the deer hunting pretty slow so far . They are feeding at night and laying up during the day . I still hunt so this doen't bother me very much ,it actually makes it better but for a stand hunter its not to good . I have seen a lot of little bucks ,but nothing I want to shoot yet still looking for the big one .
