Deer patterns
I understand that patterns change according to food sources. Do the deer still use the same bedding areas year round or does that change aswell.
Thanks |
RE: Deer patterns
I believe that deer have several bedding sites depending on the circumstances. If they are not bothered and they are close to a food source, they have no reason to change. If they are pressured enough they will change. I think that the most active food source and the best cover will dictate their bedding locations.

RE: Deer patterns
thats right GregH, it all comes down to food. If there is a good food supply the deer will stay put. where i am it deppends alot on the year. through the summer they tend to stay in the valleys and heavy cover cause there is lots of grass to eat. in the winter if there isnt much snow they may still stay in the valleys, if there is lots of snow they move more to the farm land for easier grazing

RE: Deer patterns
In the crowded SE pa area Food is important, But as soon as 10 hunters per square acre run in to the woods ,forget any patterns

RE: Deer patterns
deer always seem to adapt and overcome, i guess this explains their unbelievable come back since the late 1800's and early 1900's

RE: Deer patterns
Cardeer, I guess hunting on long Island is the same way, unless you go private.

RE: Deer patterns
I think they change depending on the area. If they can't find food during the winter they must migrate.
