RE: bare necessities of deer hunting...

good gun, bullets, sharp knife, dark clothing, and i never leave without my grunt call especially during rifle season. A grunt is essential, they have helped me several times in putitng a buck on the ground. Just to let ya know how well they work sometimes i spooked a deer off walking through the woods three tiem in about 5 minutes and everytime was able to grunt and he would come back. That deer ended up coming home with me too.

We had that same question a few years back, asked by a friend that wanted to hunt with us. Simply put, (assuming you have your rifle, rounds license) all you should need is a knife, ropeand compass. Wear you winter clothes, boots and wear an orange vest and hat. That should do it. Carrying a cell phonein case ofemergency is a good idea too.

If you want to graduate to treestands, scent lock clothes, new camo, GPS, backpacks, expensive glasses, different calls, scents, maybe radios to keep in touch, that's you call.

You want to go into the woods, shoot your deer, tag it, dress it out, anddrag it out.Sounds simple enough!

Good luck....
