simple ? about public land hunting
hello all,
my question probably has a simple answer: can you hunt anywhere on public land? or just in designated areas. Im going to green Ridge state forest, MD this year to hunt turkeys and i was j/w. Im pretty sure you can hunt anywhere, but what r your guys' thoughts. thanks

Be sure to do your research ahead of time. You should be able to get maps showing designated hunting area from maryland DNR web site or by contacting the forest service. Many times you will have safety zones, or in some cases, bow only areas. Best to knowthe rules before hand.

Concur with Rick. There is a piece of public land here in Southern Maryland that is over 975 acres of wildlife management area (WMA), but of the 975 acres about half of it is off limits and treated as a safety zone for an environmental education center.
You need to check it out for yourself so that you don't get into trouble. Good Luck!
