Its legal in Montana. I am weary of putting one on public land though because of thievery.

In Wisconsin it is legal -- check your state hunting regulations. I know in Wisconsin we cannot screw anything into the tree -- all states are different.
I'm pretty sure you cant leave it over night either. But I dont know, the only public land hunting I do is small game.

In texas you can use treeclimber as long as they do not damage the tree, and are not up more tha 72 hours (this includes ground blinds)
