What's wrong with this doe??
I came across this poor doe last weekend shed hunting. I know the pic quality is bad, I had to zoom in. The best I can describe it is she has some massive amount of black tissue around her jaw. The thing hanging from the bottom is her tongue! It was hanging like a limp noodle, totally useless. Her vision was bad too, I got pretty close, she knew something was wrong but never looked right at me. I wonder if she can go on like that. This is a no hunting, suburban area. I'm guessing a car accident, followed by serious infection?

I can tell you EXACTLY what is wrong.
Four years ago, I had a six point come upon me. He looked thin, but it was the rut and I wanted a buck.
I shot him (bow), and though the shot wasnt that great, he ran only 20 yards then collapsed mid stride, and died.
I came up to him, turned him over, and almost puked.
He (as well as your doe) had been the victim of a poorly placed head shot. His whole lower face was black, with dead tissue, blood, bone, and his tongue hanging everywhere.
It was disgusting, and I butchered him anyway, and it was the nastiest meat I have ever had....
Your doe appears to have suffered the same plight....so maybe this is a note to people to stop with the headshots?!?[:@]
