Default What do you do?

Heres the question. It's half an hour untill legal shooting time is up. It's the last day of the season. There's a huge 6x6 whitetail standing in the trees but there is no of getting a shot unless he comes out. There is also a smaller 4x4 standing in the open but he's starting to move away into the bush on the other side of the opening. It's about a 250yd shot.Your 30.06 is sighted in at 150yds. You are using 150 grain High Energy Federal Ammo. In the way of your shot are alot poplars(no leaves). What do you do?

i usually get two buck tags (dads and mine) id let him shoot the eight and then i would watch the 6x6 and if i dont get a shot then i would wait 10 minutes then try to frind the 6x6. it would be easier with a rifle if you could take shots at 100yds but with a slug id have to get within 50yds so im sure of a hit. no rifles in connecticut

I would shoot... 250 yards is a hell of a shot with a shotgun!

I voted the first one but probably would have shot a doe before the last day as I don't care about trophy horns.

I am not a trophy only hunter, but by the last day of the season, I would hope that I already have some meat in the freezer. I have never shot anything better than a 10 point, and just the glimpse of a 12 would probably make me forget about that 8 point. Around here though, he didn't get to be a 12 point by stepping foot out in the open in the daytime, so I would probably go home with no deer.

Like CD, I'd hope to already have meat by the last day of the season!
I voted for #3. To me a "bad shot," would be no shot at all!

If you are going to be dissapointed because you shot the 4x4 and didnt wait to see if the 6x6 comes out, then wait for the bigger one. If youre hunting for a trophy, then you shouldnt be worried about taking a chance and possibly end you season with an unfilled tag. If it doesnt matter to you, then take the 4x4! That is just my opinion.
