Got Me A Buck!!!!!
 

Man what an experience.I finally get to post some pics and my story of my buck of a lifetime.I've killed a few does and this is my first buck.This buck may be small compared to other big prime hunting areas but for me,It's more than I could have ever asked for on my first buck.I shot him in a club in North Alabama and I guess he's a good decent size for the area.Ok,now time for the story.It's long,but please bare with me and check it out.
Sunday January 15, good cold morning with a little snow still left on the mountain, and their was only snow on the mountain.I had no idea it snowed until half way up the mountain Saturday.Hardly any wind if any and the rut is in pretty good.I got in my stand at about 6:30am and it seemed like a good morning.At 9:00am I had'nt seen a single thing but a couple of loud squirrels and chip-munks.I thought about climbing out but I figured maybe I'd stick around till about 10:00am and try some grunting.I made my first series of grunting "brp-brp-brp" and waited ten minutes and made another series"brp-brp-brp".At about 9:25am I made a third and final series"brp-brp-brp".About two minutes laterI heard all kinds of racket,I thought it was the same ole two squirrels playing around and chasing each other again.Then I started hearing loudtwigs snapping and I thought "boy,them squirrels are starting to really get at it".I was on one side of a hollar and I could see across the hollar at the other mountain and right in the center of the hollar I noticed a deer!So I got my gun up and ready andthen noticed this deer had some equipment on his head!!Boy he was on a mission looking for that other buck in his area(I was assuming).The woods were pretty thick and I thought "man.....as fast as heis moving and as thick as it was,I hope I can get a shot.(PLEASE PLEASELORD GIVE ME A SHOT ON THIS BABY,PLEASE!!!!!!.There was a little opening about four feet wide and I figured thats where my opportunity would be.
Right as he got to itI gently let a little"baaa" out.He almost stopped to far,I could not see his neck or head but I could see right behind the shoulder!I could see enough!!Took my time....squeezed off the trigger BAMM!!!He jumps up in the air and runs over a ledge.I thought maybeI hit himby the way he jumped and I thought maybe I even heard him crash but I could'nt be for sure because he ran down a ledge so I could notsee him.
A very long ten minutes later I figured I'd go check for blood.Climbing down the stand I heard my buddy coming back from hunting and the 4-wheelertrail goes threw the hollar ondown from me towards where the deer ran.He stopped because he heard me shoot.He says"did you get one"I yelled "ohhh Richard I think I got good one.I hope hit'em."I started walking towards where I shot and ol boy,I found good blood!!I went nuts cause I knew he was'nt far.I'm yelling "I found blood I hit'em I hit'em"and then there he was.It's all hitting me now....this is my moment.Everybodys been struggling all year in the club and here it is me,who gets a good one.A pretty good 8.For me he was anyways.I'm on top of the world boys and girls!!I feel Great!

James good for you young man ..thats an awsome Bama buck ..and a super story I bet the guys back at the club were eating their heart out LOL... as I read it I could just feel your excitment ...I also hunt north Alabama and have yet to see much rut activity but maybe I will get lucky to ..again SUPER job ...YOU DA MAN !

Thanks forthe responses.I spent a lot of time typing (terrible typer) and I was afraid not many would read it considering how long it was.
Doctor Death,you seem to be the man and to think you live right down the road from me just seems crazy.Thanks for taking the time to read my story and i'm glad you enjoyed it.
It amazes me how a hunt like this can really make you feel.Besides my wife and my job,this seems to be the best thing that has ever happened to me.Kind of like winning a lottery orsomething only,I earned it.Makes me really appreciate the sport of hunting and what it can do for yourself.Even more of a reasonfor me to get my kids involved when I have some. Just so they can have the same feeling I did.

what kind of gun is in that photo. Im kind of a freakin gun finatic. See that it has the bolt unlock just like a ruger but doesnt look like a ruger.

CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I recently took my first deer, a doe. it's an experince. i could have shot a big spike but i passed. i want my first buck to be something with few more points than two,kinda something like yours;)any buck is a good buck to me. great buck and great story.
