A guy I know shot a real nice buck in the antler with one of his slugs. It just left a real nice sized hole in the rack, and left the front part of the beam kind of weak. When we picked the head up you had to be careful that you didn't snap a part of the rack off.

That is a GREAT buck though.

I've seen several deer shot in the antlers with buckshot. In some cases it would split the antler, but if it was a nice rack with some mass, it would barely put a spot on it. I even seen one that the pellet stuck to the antler after flattening.

As for the comment about human bones. A deer's antlers are dry. And a human's bones are wet. I wonder if this has anything to do with it?
