I can't beleive this!!!
They are going to allow crossbows in all states.
New law will be in affect soon[:'(] |
RE: I can't beleive this!!!
Already in affect in VA.
|
RE: I can't beleive this!!!
First I have heard of this. Here in Ms you can buy a crossbow permit, but you can only use it during gun or primitive weapon season. You cannot use it during archery season unless you are over the age of 65 or have a disability.

RE: I can't beleive this!!!
Legal in Bama and Tennessee

RE: I can't beleive this!!!
They are by Handicap Permit only IN ARCHERY SEASONS here in MI but can be used in Gun season, I personnally dont care but if I had my rathers I dont want yahoos running around with them in archry season because they are "easier" to shoot!

RE: I can't beleive this!!!
First I've heard of this...You can hunt w/ a crossbow here in MO if you have a special permit allowing you to for medical reasons. I hope this is not true:(

RE: I can't beleive this!!!
it would have to be done on a state by stat basis as the federal government has no say over this
|
RE: I can't beleive this!!!
It's not that bad. I love crossbow hunting and it is legal here in ontario. We never seem to have a problem with it. It's only a matter of time before it spreads every where. [/align] |
RE: I can't beleive this!!!
Crossbows have NEVER been a negative impact to a deer herd or a deer season. Ever.
|
RE: I can't beleive this!!!
Legal only in Wisconsin with bneing legally handicapped or once you hit 65.
|
RE: I can't beleive this!!!
Crossbows are to archery what the new in-line muzzleloaders are to the old flint locks. Gonna take some getting use to, but I think they are here to stay.

And Compound bows are easier to shoot than longbows. Why don't you say that you dont want any of those yahoos running around with their Compound bows during archery season? Monster, where are you getting this information? |
RE: I can't beleive this!!!
Texas says disabled folks can use them all other can NOT

RE: I can't beleive this!!!
I agree with Navy on this. The muzzleloading seasons pretty much started out with guys in the woods withopen sight Hawkens rifles. Now we have greatly improved center line rifles with scopes that are pretty much like shooting a 30-30 or 44 magnum. Going from compound bows to crossbows doesn't seem like that much of a jump to me. My Father now hunts with one in Illinois, but he is disabled, but I haven't heard any buzz about making crossbows legal for everyone. If so, I'm gonna invest in stock in a crossbow making company, cause its gonna get wild.

RE: I can't beleive this!!!
Although I think Monster is mistaken with this info I would still like to have it legal here in WV.
I enjoy learning and hunting with different tools. I started with a rifle, then a bow, then a Muzzy. I'd like to now try a crossbow |

RE: I can't beleive this!!!
Sat here for ten min. trying to decide if I wanted in on this but I have to. The only thing I am going to say is that their is only one person that can say CB is easier or cheating and thats the guy who has longbows with open sights. You guys that think your doing it the hard ways and like to to make sugestions about CB hunting better look back at some of the old writings your great FRED BEAR wrote about the new compound bows and all the fancy gadgets that they use. Compound bow hunters have just as much advantage as CB hunters. The only differance is holding a draw back and what is rewarding about that? I personally am just out for meat in the freezer. If granades were legal I would be buying them right now! So please try not to turn this into a CB bashing thread.

RE: I can't beleive this!!!
Ain't gonna happen!
Migratory game birds is about all the Feds have control of when it comes to hunting! As others have said, its a state-by state thing! |
RE: I can't beleive this!!!
The federal government doesn't really have a say when it comes to state wildlife departments, I would imagine. Where did you hear this?
|
RE: I can't beleive this!!!
I dont see what the big deal is about letting crossbows be legal in all states. its just another way of takeing a deer.
|
RE: I can't beleive this!!!
i thought u had a disability to hunt with a crossbow
|
RE: I can't beleive this!!!
Depends where you are.
|
RE: I can't beleive this!!!
I would probably buy one if I could legally hunt with one here in IL. Whats wrong with it....maybe get a longer or different season, state gets more permit revenue (if they issue xbow tags seperately).... gets me in the woods more. I can kill plenty of deer with my compound bow, but it would be a different challenge and who doesn't like buying a new gun or bow once in awhile?
|
RE: I can't beleive this!!!
I wouldn't really know what to think if this happened. I don't disagree with making crossbows legal to everyone, but I can't say I support it either. In Illinois you can only hunt with one if you have a disability. If they made a seperate season like they do with muzzleloader, or joined the 2 together then I would be all for it.
If they were to allow them to be used by all hunters during the archery season is where I wouldn't like it. JMO |
RE: I can't beleive this!!!
Iam sure thats what long bow & recuve people thought about compound bows when they came out(season for compound bows)if my state of Mn, lets me hunt with a crossbow I will do it just to see how it is(give me a reason to by a x-caliber) I always have my recurve, mathews LX, and Browning storm,Tikka t-3 hunter 30-06,S&W 629 44mag,and plus some ops got off track sorry.
