Default BSA Sweet .17 scope

has anyone ever usedthe BSAsweet .17 scopeon a .17 hmr. If so, do they work well? They are supposedly made for the bullet drop of the .17 hmr.

I have one on my 17 and love it. I have used the bullet drop compensator out to 200 yards, and it is very close. It is calibrated for the 17 gr rounds, not the 20gr rounds. My only complaint is the rubber bell on the end for the AO. It makes it so you have to use a higher set of rings than you should have to. Other than that, it is a great scope worth every dime. Good luck

I don't normally like to bash BSA's because I think they work well for the money they want for them, especially the higher end of the line up. That being said I looked at some of them (sweet 17's) and was not overly impressed. Unfortunately they based them on some of the cheaper scopes in thier line up. I wish they would have based them on the catseye or panther scopes and just ask the extra money for them.

My personal opinion is at the ranges the 17 is effective you really don't need the drop compensator, the gun shoots pretty flat to begin with. Unless you intend on trying to make 250-300 yard shots with it. You certainly won't be killing anything very big at those distances, not to mention the wind drift will be conciderable.

I would suggest looking at scopes in the $200 range with medium power. Your eyes will apreciate it. Not that I don't think the sweet 17's will work. There are several people on rimfirecentral that seem to like them. I just don't think the optics are what they should be for this kind of a rifle.
