What would be the best deer hunting gun fro hunting in an area where i can take a long shot and a short shot any suggestions

My choice is a 7 Rem Mag, you can dress her up and down for whatever game you are tackling. The recoil is slightly more than a 270-280 but less than a 300 win. But others would work as well, Rem 280, Wthby 270, Win 270, etc.

I really like the 7mm-08 Rem as an all-around deer rifle. Great ballistics, light recoil and plenty of punch downrange.

243 win to a 300 win mag will all do the job , beyond that will just be someones opinion .

What do you call a long shot? Out to 200 yards I would a 7mm-08 and past that I would use a 25-06 or a .300 Mag,everyone has there favorite...<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

id go with the .270 or the .280 or the 25-06. start getting into the magnums at shorter ranges and the deer becomes more and more like premade hamburger
