What scope would you get for $800.00
 

Hi guys.

I still need your help. I'm still undecided on which scope to buy. I have about $800 to spend. I want a scope which will be a 3.5x14x50mm(Approx). with NO adj. Obj. Side focus I can live with. What would you buy with that kind of cash. Thanks for your help again!!!!

I see that you are in Canada so I assume that you mean Canadian dollars.For big game hunting I would not use so much magnification.I would go with the ziess conquest 3.5x10x44 for $879 from russells sports or wholesale sports.If you really want more power the conquest 4.5x14x44 sells for $939.

good lord all mighty. I couldn't see spending that much on anything? maybe a gun + a scope + box of shells LOL. I bought a cheap 50 dollar Scope 5 years ago for my 7mm and its still works like a charm today.

The Zeiss Conquest scopes suggested by stubble are excellent scopes. If you would like something a little less in price and power you could always go for the 3-9 x 40 mm Conquest for about $700.00 CDN. You can’t go wrong with either one of those scopes...;)

I have 2 Conquests myself and agree for the money you have set aside it is a great choice. I have a 40 & 44 mm objective and don't notice any real advantages to the larger bell, the optical performance of the conquest is very good. For a biggame setup power range of3x9 or 3.5x10 have always been my preference as well and I have yet to want or need more.

I have been extremely pleased with my Conquests and would highly recommend them to anyone.

What are you using it for? With that quality of scope you will not need the 50 mm objective, a 40 will be fine unless you want really high power. If you are deer hunting I say get a simple 3-9x40 something with no AO or side focus. Spend the extra money on better glass. Ziess would be my choice if I had the money. The Alaskan guide scopes by cabela's are pretty nice as well, not Zies nice in my opinion though.

Save your money and go with a Burris 3x9 fullfield. I love it and haven't had a problem with getting bumped off or fogging and bring the early or late hours shooting light into the scope. It runs around 200 dollars.

you ain't kidden. Good grief. If I am going to spend 800 bucks, its going ot be on some tires for my truck LOL. I spent about 400 on a gun and that just about tore me up.

800 bucks sounds a little bit much. I would go for 400 and get two and then send me the second one!!! lol. sorry, Idont know much about good optics. I would have to miss two house payments for a scope like that!

I agree with the Zeiss Conquest sentiment. Also, would definately check ebay. I saw some decent deals there lately for NIB models.

Honestly I'd buy a leupold var-xIIIin 3.5 x10x50 and save about 300 bucks for some other hunting stuff.

If you had read the previous posts,you would have seen that the original poster is in Canada and is talking Canadian dollars.Thevxiii costs right around $840 in Canada so there won't be any money left over for other hunting stuff.:)

if I were you and wanted to spend that kind of money on a scope check out the cheaper than dirt website, i know this oesnt sound like a good place to get a top uality scope but there is a scope there that is pretty much a sniper scope. 56mm something like 8-32x for bout $699.

None I would order a 270 with a walnut stock from Walmart and get a 79.00 scope put on. The gun cost 699.00 That would be for my long range hunting gun.

brother, get you a cheap BSA or simmions, there is nothing wrong with "cheap" scopes. they work just as good. There is not "flaws" in them. I have a "cheapo" that i've killed all my deer with, and its on a hard recoil type gun. The ole 7mm. Its a 6.5x24 BSA. I just recently bought a 20 dollar NC star, illuminated mil dot rec from CDNN, to pu on my .17 HRM. Ain't nothing wrong with it bro.
