Am I the only one that thinks that deer looks fake? The rack looks photoshopped to me.

Looks pretty real to me, the shadows are all where they are supposed to be and I see no obvious chop lines anywhere

The deer is pretty real. I had to downsize it, so it looks a little grainy and blurry. But the original(here on my computer)looks very real.

That pic sure looks real to me. Incredable buck but paying cash for a specific trophy isn't hunting to me. Can deer from that ranch be entered into the books?

what a buck but thats way to much for a hunt

Wow, they sure know how to grow'em! I'll never be able to shoot a buck again thinking it might get that big;)!

Awsome buck. I'm going to get one that big some day. Well I hope anyways.

Great Buck and fine looking dog too!:)

Looks real to me! What a monster. Don't think they can be entered into the books no matter how big the ranch is.

RE: Big Buck

It looks real to me, but if it dressed out at 228 that dog must weigh 190!!!

And does anyone else think that rack isn't 34 inches wide?????

That deer looks to me like a 170-180 class deer. This buck is even on Boone and Crocketts Trophy Watch page where it is proven to not be anywhere near as big as that email would have you believe@

RE: Big Buck

You have a point, Bionicrootster. He has 12 points, and the more I look at him, I"m not sure where the 248" comes from. And 34" inside? I'd have to see it to believe it. Regardless, what a buck, even for a pen raised deer.

No where near 248". Not even close. Still one heck of a buck.
If it was indeed shot on the King Ranch, it was not pen raised. Just because the word "Ranch" is in the name, it does not mean there is a fence around it.

i was going to say the same that if those measurements were right the pic doesnt do it any justice, but i dont think a main frame 10 pt could ever gross 248 and if it did it would be enormous

DougMD 12-28-2005 07:16 AM

RE: Big Buck

Isn't the world record typical 213 5/8 by Milo Hansen? So this WOULD be a new world record, barring the disqualification for the high fence operations. Seems to me we would have heard about this through other sources if it truly netted that many B&C points.

regardless, it is a beauty.... that's for sure...

Beautiful buck, but there ain't no way it has those measurements.

dkhamner 12-28-2005 10:26 AM

RE: Big Buck

The pic looks fudged to me.

I cant believe the size nor the measurments. Texas says on average that a whitetail bucks ears are 13" from tip to tip. I would give this buck maybe double that being 26" (not bad). If the buck weighs 228 lbs i'm more impressed with the size of that pooch. WOW what a dog!

That cant be a free ranging deer. I thought the King Ranch had a 12' fence around it and that they shot steroids or something in them bucks.Haven'ttheyseen Bigfoot on that reanch too!

20k for a monster is wayyyy too much money! But that is a MONSTER

JPF 12-28-2005 11:20 AM

RE: Big Buck

DougMD, youre right Milo Hansen does have the record at 213 and change. I agree that there would be more hype about this deer ( even if it was penned) if it did surpass the current world record by that much. You have to have a lot go right with a rack to break the record by that much. But record or not, still a very nice deer, I definitly wouldnt hesistate to pull the trigger, would I pay 20K for it not likely. I'd like mine to cost me the 40 bucks for my tag and not be in a fence. I'm not saying that the deer was tied up waiting for the hunter, just saying thats not how i would do it, each to there own. Very nice deer no matter where it was taken or what it scores

Twenty thousand dollars? I've been hunting for over 40 years, averaging over 40 days in the field a year, probably spent that amount and then some but no monster buck... Yet.

chrisholland 07-15-2009 07:42 AM

Testing. testing. 1-2 :)

The bad part about this is the fact that this sport is leaning towards a "Rich Mans Sport". And someone was willing to shoot an animal for 20K dollars that we (Hunters in Ohio) could have pointed this guy/gal in the right direction for a deer of comperable size and mass for 19,700.00 less. Just my opinion...this is sad.

crokit 07-15-2009 08:49 AM

One area that definitely has been doctored: Measurements and score. That buck is not 200 class net.

I don't think King Ranch is high-fenced, so, they can be entered. I believe King Ranch is roughly the size of Rhode Island...

By the way... I don't think it's a King Ranch Buck. Here's another photo from a ranch in Mexico, of the same buck, posed with the hunter.

PSEarchery 07-15-2009 09:52 AM

Wow very nice buck. But, fair chase is a lot better then shooting a deer on a fenced-in ranch

hubby11 07-15-2009 11:33 AM

Google "Kings Ranch" to learn more about it. The cost of a trophy buck is based on it's B&C score.

Regrding fair chase, Kings Ranch has over 800,000 acres of habitat. I don't know if any of it is fenced. Just your basic Texas ranch.

isatarak 07-16-2009 02:04 AM

That is a great buck, but unfortunately somebody lied about the score. The inside spread is closer to 20 than 34.

Western MA Hunter 07-16-2009 04:12 AM

wow.... that is a freak...
