Doe Management?

I hunt an area of about 35acres. The deer move out of the area but will always return to be down. I know there is more deer in the area but have hunted this stand for 2 months and have only seen 6 deer. 2 bucks, 2 does, and 2 yearlings.

Would it still be ok to take a mature doe out of the herd even though there isn't a huge population? Ithink there is more deer in the area just not in this specific spot?

** I see these deer often, atleast every-other time I am out.But am only allowed to take does now. I was hoping for one of the mature does but would the yearling be a better idea?

You are hunting only a small area. So if there is a good deer population in the area, there is really no reason not to take the doe! Good luck!

If you are only allowed to take does, then why wait? Just make sure that the yearlings are not button bucks.

A mature doe ususlly has twins. A yearling, if she's bred, usually only has 1 fawn. Hope this helps.

Doe Management?
Can you manage to shoot one ?
Can you do it again ? ;)

Seeing deer as often as you are usually means there are plenty , but ask your local game warden to be sure . If you've hunted the same stand for two months and still see deer every other time there then he'll probably say the same . For management purposes it's usually better to take the mature doe for the reason that Windwalker cited .

Thank you guys, I talked to a older man at the sport shop that I know and like alot and he said there are plenty around. He said I shouldn't have a problem. I am going out tomorrow morning and I cannot wait! I'll update when I get back in the morning!
