How Does Coyote Effect Deer Movement
#1

Where I have had to hunt for the past
3 years because of not much money for gas etc.
Well there is tons of coyotes.
I have even heard of peoples pets being killed there.
Its Public hunting land.
About two square mile section.
I have seen not much deer sign.
And what I have seen is small deer tracks.
And not much at all.
So my question is how does the pressance of coyotes,
Effect deer and there movements ?
Thank You

It's hard to say, because coyotes are scavengers. I'm suprised that you would see big buck tracks because they wouldnt go after them; they are more likely to go after newborn fawns, or small does. If it is possible I would recommend killing them off in the off season. If you have a coyote season, then do it then, it the land owners allow it.

Deer haveevadedcoyotes longer than they have outsmarted people. Where we hunt, we've got coyotes, wolves, bears and still plenty of deer. If you're not seeing deer, its probably not the coyotes that are affecting it. We've got coyotes chowing down on poodles in the city suburbs, and in the same suburbs, we've got deer munching their petunias

Right on! Sounds more like night hunters to me!
