RE: Anybody see this buck?
I don't have a story behind it, except that a friend of mine got the picture emailed to him, and apparently it was taken on the King Ranch.

RE: Anybody see this buck?
Welcome to the forums, lonelywolf2.
It could be Northern Mexico. |
RE: Anybody see this buck?
Man, I seen that buck several times while hunting this year just decided to pass on him... :D:):D:)
|
RE: Anybody see this buck?
Nah, it was the King Ranch in South Texas, low-fence, free-range...
My step-dad had it sent to him by a guy he knowswho actually knows people who know the manwho took this deer (so he says)... my step-dad then emailed it to me, it was the picture I was trying to post the other day... |
RE: Anybody see this buck?
Actually the email came with the measurements...
From Justin Field, King Ranc Wildlife Biologist: Inside spread: 34 inches Beams: 32 inches each G1: 15 inches each G2: 14 inches each G3: 15 inches each G4: 11 inches each mass: 45 inches droptines: 7 each Grossing 243, netting 224 typical... also says it field dressed as one of the biggest they've ever seen there... |
RE: Anybody see this buck?
Apparently the man who shot it leased out a whole pasture of the king ranch for something like 145,000 dollars because that deer had been seen several times thereand he did not want anybody else hunting in that pasture. This is according to an old man on my lease so I guess its credible information.

|
RE: Anybody see this buck?
Dang the deer, I want the black and tan...........:)
|
RE: Anybody see this buck?
For anyone not familiar with KING. Shooting that deer alone costs $20,000. If special arrangements were made for the hunt that fee would be in addition to the $20,000 for taking that deer.
Here is the current fee structure.. Hunt #1 up to a 150 Boone & Crockett Gross Score(3 day hunt,) $5,500.00 flat fee, 151 - 170 B & C, $5,500 plus $200.00 per point above the 150 B & C gross score 171 - 180 B & C, $5,500 plus $250.00 per point above the 150 B & C gross score 181 - 199 B & C, $15,000 200+ B & C, $20,000 |
RE: Anybody see this buck?
Wow I think I'll stick with our free deer, then if I shot something even near that it would mean something.

RE: Anybody see this buck?
OR....this is the real story.....
Cyber photos: A tangled Web indeed 06:51 PM CST on Saturday, November 26, 2005 Justin Feild learned a valuable lesson about the Internet this month. Feild guides whitetail hunters for the world-famous King Ranch. The King Ranch is an 825,000-acre Texas wildlife paradise, the sort of place that routinely produces huge bucks and occasionally yields a monster. In 1998, King Ranch cowboy Adan Alvarez shot a 26-pointer that scored 229 4/8 Boone and Crockett non-typical points. It's the sixth-biggest non-typical Texas buck ever reported to B&C. In 1973, New Yorker Alexander Guest shot a King Ranch 12-pointer that scored 1944/8 typical B&C points, still the third-best typical in Texas history. As a joke, Feild had a photo taken of himself with a client's nice buck. The wide-antlered deer had a small droptine and scored about 159 B&C. Like a fisherman holding his catch out toward the camera, Feild squatted well behind the deer to make it look bigger. He then sent the digital photo to a handful of friends, along with an outrageous list of measurements that totaled 243 gross typical points. "It was a joke," said a chagrined Feild, "but it got totally out of hand. Within two days, that e-mailed photo had traveled from California to Florida and everywhere in between. The day after I sent the original e-mail, I sent out an e-mail explaining it was just a joke, but it was too late." Feild has seen various versions of his original e-mail. Some call the deer a new world record. Others make fun of a professional deer guide who missed a score by about 80 inches. "I've gotten some interesting phone calls," Feild said. "I've learned a lesson about playing jokes on the Internet. It can get away from you real quick." http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/s ... |
