Pea's for bait?
A friend of mine went on a hunt in Canada, he said that the outfitter baited the deer with hay and frozen pea's. Anybody heard of such a thing? What kind of pea's are they? Where can i get some in bulk?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

I have augered a hole on the ice of a pond and placed a few pees around the hole.I would then hide close by and when the deer would come up and take a pee I would kick him in the icehole

Pea fields are game magnets up here. Outfitters wouldgo withthe chick pea variety.Peas are a bit spendy though...most tend to go with barley on top of the alfalfa hay in sask. Cheaper but very effective as well.
Try a feed mill or process plants??? |
RE: Pea's for bait?
the public land i hunt rotates a field with peas. the deer love it. plants are cut to about 1 1/2 feet by october, deer love to bed in it. got my first deer with a recurve bow the year of the pea crop. in a thicket about 100-150 yards off of the crop. i'd love to plant a 1/4 acre right up against the edge and see what happens:)
