I am like you on waiting for the great ones, but that deer is REAL Close... I think I would have had to take him, especially since where I hunt you can take 2 bucks... that would have been a Great first one of the season... Good luck on the Great one you are waiting for...

I agree could not help myself but to take him! Very nice! If you know there is a bigger one hanging around then I guess I don't blame you for holding out! WOW! That is awesome! Man you are one lucky dude if the area you hunt has bucks that will make you pass that one up! I usually get to pass up a few 11 pointers each season also....of course in WV we've got an awful lot 11 pointers (WV 11point = a spike) <img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle> What I would give to even see a buck like that....

i want to see one like that even if its off in the distance. our antler growth around here is pitiful the 4 point from last year is still a 4 point this year.
but if you think there are better ones out there by all means wait for them. i dont know where you are at but maybe he will walk all the way to my place

WV LOL! I do the same, also in in WV. Send a cap between the spikes for a field goal.

holedigger, I would have dropped him! I hope there isn't much hunting pressure there or nearby, because I doubt other hunters adhere to your standards.

haha wv hunter thats right about them eleven pointers! man i coudlnt pass up that buck not with that sticker point, UNLESS i knew there was one alot bigger in the area, cause here if you pass him up hes prolyl gonna be dead in a couple days anyways

got a big buck there. man i wish i had your small bucks up here. we have big bucks too but they airnt a big population of them but a soild population of 3 by 3s and spikers and espically does. thanks for postin the pic

Sure takes a lot to hold back on a buck like that. Even if you see a 160+ class buck ever night, IMO taking a buck like this is still good enough, unless you have lots and lots of huting time. Back in HS when I had a lot of hunting time I passed on a 150 class non-typical only to get him a couple weeks later with the rifle at the end of season. But nowadays since I have very limited time to hunt, any mature buck is good for me.

I have a buddy that won't shoot anything under 160 class, and even to this day, he hasn't shot anything under it. Do I think he's crazy when I watch him pass on 150 class bucks??.. no, he just goes out the next day and gets a bigger one. Because he has the spot. It's all up to you. What kind of camera do you have that'll allow you get get a few pics of him while he's only feet from your stand, without hearing you? j/w Good pics, thanks for sharing.

Beautiful buck, wow, last Monday it was all I could do to not shoot one of the 2 spike bucks that i had walk about 15 feet from me while I was on the ground the other day.<img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle>

holedigger, my hat is off to you bud! I don`t have that much willpower! After studying your pictures and crunching #`s, I figure that buck goes between 150-155&quot;. It is hard to tell from the pictures, but he looks to be in the 3 1/2 year old range. If he is only 3 1/2 and stays healthy until next year, he should push 180&quot; no problem!
