Default Missouri Buck 11-17-05

Well I kinda tripped the trigger a little early on this 8pt. but nonetheless he's a keeper for me. I got him Thursday morning at about 7:50am. It was a beautiful still morning with temps in the upper teens. He was quickly making his way across a long narrow brushy ridge field and at first all I could catch was glimpses of horns as he walked thru the brush. He finally made it to a small opening and was looking across a fence away from me and thats when I made the decision to shoot. He looked like a monster standing out there looking away. Well anyway I settled the crosshairs just over his back and let the 30-06 rip. He jumped the fence and went about 70yds before tipping over. I don't know how far over his back I held but it worked. I range it and no kidding it was 290yds. LUCKY. The 180gr. AccuBond bullet hit him about midways right behind the front shoulder taking out both lungs. Well it was a great hunt and a great deer. He had a little ground shrinkage but now he's my trophy and I'll take him.

Congrats on the buck!! Great shot. Curious question. Did you have view of the buck running after the shot?
