RE: When should I go hunting?
Go when you can. I've killed deer at all times of the day. You can't get them if you are siting watching television.

RE: When should I go hunting?
to keep it simple most people hunt in the morning and afternoon. If you really want to kill deer and can make yourself stey on the stand then I suggest you simply hunt whenever possible.I have found that deer havent read the time tables they are supposed to follow.

RE: When should I go hunting?
Get in your stand or area in which you will be hunting before light. Give your self enough time to get settled and be very still and quiet. Deer typicaly return from feeding around dawn esspecially when there was a full moon. Most deer I have harvested have been in the moring and and dusk, when they are returning to thier feeding areas. Good Luck! KEEP HUNTING THE GREAT OUTDOORS & GOD ALIVE, PASS IT ON! |

RE: When should I go hunting?
In the early season your better off sitting in the morming and evening and doing some scouting midday.Just don't go stomping through bedding area's.
If it's abnormally hot(especially in the North) the deer will usually move early and late. The deer get their winter coat on and won't move much in the heat of the day.Would you? As the rut picks up it's a good idea to sit more, but still do some scouting. |
RE: When should I go hunting?

RE: When should I go hunting?
Scientific research shows that deer are most active at dawn and dusk. You should be in your stand at least an hour before you expect to see deer. Becaue it's hard toget to your stand in the dark without spooking deer, because you can't see them, but they can see, hear and smell you, it's easier to get to your stand without being detected by hunting in the afternoon. Get to staqnds near open feeding areas 2-3 hours before sunset. If you are new at this, ask all the questions you want, I do it for a living, and I write about it and give seminars. Fire away.
