Default Looking for new rifel cartrage

I have been shooting my trusty 30-06 for many years with great success. With it I have taken everything from Elk to squirrels.

I have been thinking strongly about the 30 WSM for an all around work horse. Any suggestions on other cartrages? opinions?

Squirrels? Why in the heck would you nail one of those with a 30-06.

A 30-06 is a well rounded rifle, but you may look into a 7mm.

I love the 30-06 round. Unless you want longer range or bigger game, I would not go up to the 300 or the 7mm.

If you intend to go after deer, try a 270. The 270 will do everything the 30-06 will do when it comes to deer. A little nicer to shoot as well.

If you do feel undergunned or you need another 100 yards added to yur range then the 300 win mag is a good round. Keep in mind though that the kick will alway be there. 300 win mag rifles tend to be a little on the heavy side so consider that as well.

It depends on the distance you will be shooting. I tend to shoot my 270 when have no shot over 200 yards. I know it is capable to shoot further, I just have more confidence with my 300 ultra. The 270 is probably the the best all around gun I have shot. If I were you i would check on a 270 or 300 WSM.
