That was a tough decision. I've killed a deer with almost every caliber mentioned. I voted for 243 just because the gun is light and fun to pack. 7mm was second choice.

30-30 or 30-06 works for me. I use 30-30 more though.

30-06all the way. Got lots of different grain to choose and they have it in every sporting shop even in some gas stations.

270 on the light end 7mm or 300 preferred. we hunt muleys and take long shots. average shots 300 yards


i guess the majority on this post are flatland shooters (hence whitetail everywhere) probably dont need the power hunting farm feilds and small patches of timber. Atleast thats what we westerners see on hunting shows.
