need some quik help on good 270 Cal...

I am wandering if anyone has any suggestions on a good 270 model. I have a savage 270 bolt action currently but it is a little old and i want a new gun. I like the cal. 270 alot b/c of its range and power, but i am so cluttered with all the different models. Some sugggesttions would be greatly appreciated. I like the cal. and the bolt action design, but i need help on a good maker/model.

thanks

It sort of depends on the budget you have in mind. You can get a good Remington for about $650 or so. If you want a wood stock, composit stock etc can make the price vary a lot. Need a little more information. I know it wasn't a lot of help, but welcome to the board.....

thanks for the welcome. umm....im gessing i could spend up to about 600-650. What are some good models around this price range? i like the idead of a wood stock (which i think usually raises the price somewhat), but it is not necessary. I would like it to be either black, synthetic camo or wood, they will all work. Are there major differences between a, lets say, $300 270 opposed to a 650$ gun? if so, what are the differences. Im just trying to get a idea of what rifle is good for the money.

thanks again

wut do you mean by the 270 "combo", does that mean you get accessories? of course i can find out myself, im just trying to see what you mean b4 you go? I guess the guns at wal mart are of the same quality as any other store (dicks, bass pro, etc). It just seems that Wal mart would not have good quality guns, but i guess if they are new there is no difference, ecxept that wal mart is probably 10 times cheaper.

thanks again

I like the Browning A bolt. I have been shooting a 270 A bolt for years and have never had a problem with it. It is accurate and I like the 60 degree bolt on the Brownings.

A bolt is the name of Browning's bolt action guns. They make different models in the A bolt line which vary in price. You can probably get an A bolt hunter for around $600. Like I said in my previous post, I like the 60 degree bolt on the Brownings. It allows you to bolt the gun faster than other bolt action rifles which can be helpful if you need to make a quick follow up shot.

i got a remington 710 package in the 270.. i love mine...

btw this one also has the 60 degree bolt... synthetic stock...and low maintanance...

most higher prices rifles have a better accuracy , however you have to ask yourself how accurate do you want it ?... i can shoot 1 1/2" (5 bullet) groups at 100 yards easily, prolly a bit closer if i would take the time to find a bullet the gun really likes... at 300 yards that would give me a 5 shot groups about the size of a grapefruit wich is more then tolarable for a deer..
