What happens when gut shot with gun?

I was curious what the difference is when you shoot a deer in the guts with a gun or bow. Do you still have to wait 8hrs? Will they get up and run away? Thanks.

Partner, if you shoot it in thestomach, better hope you did'nt hit the crap pouch. ;)
Most likely you might have to track it for a distance. I would wait for 2-3hrs and then
start blood tracking it!

RE: What happens when gut shot with gun?

I gut shot an eight pointer a few years ago. I can remember I knew I hit him but heran out of view without a stumble(long shot w/ B.P.). I went and got a freind came back a few hours later, I just kept walking in the direction he was going from were I had last seen him. It was dark, no blood, in a thicket but by walking the easiest path and a little luck I found him. He went 100 yards, didn't bleed until the last 10 feet, man he was full of acorns!!
