LED head lamps

All, last fall I seen a show on that talked all about going to and from your stand in the dark. On of the main topics was using colored led head lamps and they did a study of which one was the least disturbing to the deer. They actually showed the hunters walkingwithin twenty yards of the deer with one particular color, were as the oher ones did make the deer a little more nervious or spoked. Since then I have forgoton the one that was the best and the show has not been on since. I think the colors they showed were red, blue and green, and I think red was the best but not sure? Any one else use colored leds with sucess? Thanks!

Coyote hunters use red lens lights.
So it might have been the red one.

But it is a good idea to have so other hunters will see you.
In the early morning darkness.
Espesaly on public hunting land.

Red. . . .will work just fine. Deer live in a Black and white world. . .they don't see red well, that's why lots of states require you to wear blaze orange, it shows up real well for us that see in color but to a Deer it is just another shade of grey. I have used a 2 million candle power spot light in my back yard and with a red filter it does not spook Deer as bad as no filter. But this is a REAL bright light. A little red LED head lamp won't bug them a bit. I use mine when ever i need light coming or going in the dark.

i have an led headlamp that you can use with a red light or a really bright white light. the red is still bright but not as bright as the white. you just have to be sure not to turn the white on when you want the red.

No...the green is the one that spooks less. And the green is most visible to people reducing your chance of getting shot by some idiot in the dark.

Spotlighters use red due to the way it illuminates a coyotes eye.

I agree with woodust, green spooks deer less. Just look at those streamlight pen lights that you clip on your hat, they are green and are advertised as not spooking deer.

A good and cheap way to convert that white light of yours into a handy-dandy red light!
