375 H&H for Whitetails
 

I just purchased a Blaser R93 Prestige Safari in 375 H&H from a friends estate. Iwill say upfront that it is not my caliber of choice, but the "deal" was one that I could not pass up. I have searched the brand name bullet makers websites and found that is really not that much bigger ballistically than a 300 Win Mag, but it is still more than I want for Texas and Oklahoma whitetails. Does anyone have or know ofa "light" load for whitetails? I am leaning toward the Federal Premium 250 gr but am open to suggestions.

I would go with any 250 grain bullet for the .375 H&H

Couldtry the Fed. Prem 260gr Nosler Accubond? I think the 260 AB would peform better than the 250TBBC for deer and it give you a slight edge in ballistic performance.

Hi Jeff,

I had a couple of "soft" loads for my old Brno CZ502 375 H&H Mag that were used successfully on wild boars and goats. One with the Speer 235gn and the other a 310gn lead cast with gas check.

1. Speer 235gn SMP with76gns AR2209 (=H4350) for 2560 ft/s.

2. Cast Lead GC 310gn with 55gns AR2208 (=Varget) with dacron filler for 2090ft/s.

You can also load down with the Hornady 220 grain flat nose made for the 375 Winchester. It can be loaded from 2000-2800 fps. 2400 would be a good choice.

3. Hornady 220gn FN with82gns AR2209 (=H4350) for 2860 ft/s.

If you can reload definately go that route. If you don't, look into it. It doesn't have to be as complicated or expensive as some make it out to be....besides, shooting 375H&H can't exactly be "cheap":D

Just make sure you pick a big one because there isn't going to be much left to butcher.:D
