I use one of the small propane heaters in my closed blind with no problems. As long as it's burning there should be no smell and makes almost no noise. Gas only smells when it isn't burning. They put that smell in there so you know there is a leak. It is actually a pretty natural smell though that I don't think would scare a deer away. Smells like sulfer which would be natural in some areas.
This is the heater I use; Coleman heater It is not that exact heater, but pretty close mine does not have the auto ignition. I have to use a match to light it. But they don't really make any noise or give off any fumes because of the way they burn. Nor is there a flame that can catch something on fire. Great for tents and small blinds. Mine doesn't put out a lot of heat though. You need to huddle over it if it is really cold. I just looked, mine is the Sport Cat not as much heat but it lasts much longer on a tank. Mine will go a week maybe when I hunt. I know I only need one tank a year for mine. I hunt an average of 3 or 4 days before I kill something. I think I went two seasons on one tank before because I tagged out early. More BTU's would sure be nice though considering how cheap the tanks are sometimes. I think I might invest in one of the other ones that have twice the output. Paul |

I have used them several times and have had no probs.. when they are burning they do not put off much of scent and the noise is pretty quiet.
