145 Speer SP Vs 154 Hornady RN

I've got a Rem 700 Mtn LSS in 7mm-08. Over the summer I developed 5 loads which all shoot MOA or better in my gun. I've narrowed it down to these two. The 145 Grn Speer SP (HotCor) and the 154 Grn Hornady Round Nose.

I hunt the mountians of NW Arkansas primarilly for whitetails, although black bear and big hogs are a possibility. All shots would be under 300 Yds. (My personal limit).I also use a Burris scope w/ Ballistic Plex reticle which I've caliberated for both these rounds, so trajectory is not at issue here.

I am particularly interested in hearing about "on game" performance, regardless of caliber, of these two bullets. So please indicate your preference, caliber used, and the "on game" results you have experienced.
Thanks a bunch!

Thanks for the responses!

Well, I think I'm going to load up some of both and keep both with me when hunting. I'll probably keep the 145 Speers SPts loaded up most of the time and expecially when longer shots are a posibility. When "woods" hunting where shots would be 150 Yds or less, I'll load up the 154 Hdy RN.

That way I'll have the best of both worlds.

Have you fired both at the same time to see if they shoot to the same point of impact at 100 yards?

No, I haven't done that yet, but obviouslyneed to. I really don't think that there will be that much difference between the two @ 100 Yds.

Thanks

You may or may not be surprised.I have seen similar situations where both bullets point of impact was virtually identical, but I have seen cases where they varied by 3" at 100 yards. At 300 yards that 3" becomes 9" which is more than enough to cause a miss or worse yet a wounded animal.

The 145 SP is the only one that I would shoot at longer ranges so the rifle will be sighted in for that load. The 154 RN wouldn't be shot over 150 Yds, and in all probablility less than 100 Yds. If the 154 RN 100 Yd impact iswithin a couple of inches on the 145 SP impact I should be good to go.
