RE: what grain 30-06
Any weight from 150gr to 180gr will work fine for deer.

150GR.

I really like the new Federal high power 180 gr. Nosler Partition loads. I hunt for big body deer in northern New England and it does the job. I just returned from a Woodland caribou hunt in Newfoundland and the load performed fantastically.

When I hunted with a '06 I used the 180 grain PSP corelokt. It was the most accurate with my gun. I tried the 150 grainand 165 grain, but it liked the 180's the best. It was devastating on deer.

150gr for white tail!

RE: what grain 30-06
I agree with most everyone. 150 gr is plenty for whitetail. Anything else is really just overkill.

I also use 180s in mine. I use the wincherster accubond....man they pack a punch. I shot a doe in the shoulder last year and tore the meat completly up. So I need to watch my placement a little better in the future. The buck i shot ran about 30 yards. Had a baseball size exit wound.

RE: what grain 30-06
i was planning on shooting 125's but after i shot some of my 180's and decided that they didn't have that much recoil so i think i'll use them.
