Easiest way to skin a deer?

Just curious to see how you guys skin your deer.....I usually just pull with one hand and cut with the other, but I know there are easier ways out there. I think a lot of the guys that do processing use a floor-mounted winch to pull the skin off and I was thinking about using my front-end loader to do the same thing. Ideas?

4 wheeler and a rope. Give yourself some room and floor it.

The easiest way I've found is to skin the animal while it's still warm. You don't have to exert yourself and there is limited need for a knife. The hide peals off easily. If you allow the animal to rigor you've just created labor for yourself.

I concur, if reasonably fresh the knife time & entire procedurereally cuts down. I also find it faster if the animal is hanging vs on the ground, of which I prefer head down!

Take em' to the processor. Charges $10 extra and I don't have to burry the guts.

Heres a link. Personally i skin mine with the head at the top, it makes it easier and keeps most hair from falling on to the cavity. And its easier to skin a deer with the grain of the hair.

warm, head down with a light singeing of the carcass after the hide is off - takes care of most, if not all hair left behind

Well. Not sure why no one has posted this idea yet, but this is how i do it. I beleive mr. quad guy is just kidding around. but first cut the skin all the way around the neck then down the chest to right above his testicles. cut slits up each leg and then stop just past the joint. cut a circle around the joint. lay him out on a tarp and put a chain around his neck and around the base of a sturdy tree. pull back the skin around the neck and place a medium rock in there and use rope to tie a good not around the rock then conect the other end to a vehicle. start to pull SLOWLY and watch the skin come right off. don't matter if it is hot or freezing cold.

I concurr with JNTURK. cut the paws off at the elbows and slit the fur to the body along the inside of the legs. Hang the deer from the head and skin the neck down about 12 inches. Put a golf ball on the inside of the neck and tie a rope around the ball with the fur overlapping itTIGHTLY (grommet style). Attach the other end of said rope to the quad or bumper hitch and pull away slowly. I can skin a deer all by myself in about 4 minutes with no nicks, cuts or stray hair on the carcass.

PS - head shots or neck shots disqualify this method for obvious reasons.
