my son got his 1st deer this morning
Brandon took his first whitetail this morning at about 7:15. Nice 8 pointer, not mounting material, but still nice in body size. I had a blind set up on the opposite side of my big ridge, with my food plot between it and the blind. We got in early and set up a decoy. At first light I did some grunting, and waited for 20 minutes and then did some more, on the 3 rd time, he showed up less than a minute later, Brandon was so excited, he was hyperventolating, and couldn't keep the gun still. I had to talk and calm him down so he could keep the gun still for the shot. Luckily the buck was glued to this decoy, and Brandon was able to put one thru the shoulders at 110 yards. Perfect shot, he dropped where he was standing and didn't move after! Jeanne, my wife, I think is more excited! She had to call grandpa and grandma to let them know. It was pretty cool, I'm glad I was there to share his moment. Hope he'll remember this for years, and I'm shure he will.wish I could share some pics, but I am unable to get it sized down enough on my programs, but wanted to share anyway.
it might be worth mounting cause it was his first deer and thats whats important not the size

Tell your son congrats...and pat yourself on the back as well! I can't even imagine how I'd feel when my first kid got their first deer! I'm sure it's a moment that you'll cherish for the rest of your life.
