Too early for mock scrape??
hey guys, illinois hunter here, I was just wondering if you guys thought it was too early to start a mock scrape. I was thinking about getting on of those scent drippers for the active scrape scent but I didnt know if it was too early for that, or if all in all I was going about this the wrong way somehow. thanks in advance.

Nope , Perfect time . As the pre rut kicks in and goes along the bucks start to pay less and less attention to scrapes and start concentrating on finding the does . This is as good as time as any for mock scrapes . I wouldnt be putting doe in heat estorus in them yet . Active scrape is a good product alot of people favor . Good luck let us know how it goes . Arrow one of those ILL monsters for us !

the scent drippers are made so that they only drip during daylight hours. [not pos] but i think its a 10 degree swing that stops and starts the dripper. it patterns the bucks to come during daylight hours.

Yesterday I came upon some real nice scrapes right about dusk. Continued stalking and saw a real bruiser (10 or 12 pointer) run off a scrape he was making. The area had alot of scrapes.

Definitely not too early, if anything you might be a little late. I start mine around labor day just to make sure they are the first scrapes in the woods. The earlier you put them out, the better chances a buck will find it and mark it himself. If it is a mature buck, you just might make him think he has competition for does, then he might make a mistake and show himself during your hunting hours.

this is my first post on here, i hope it turns out alright. i hunt in michigan, and i have found 8 scrapes on 1 16 acre parcel so far. i put out a mock scrape, and since i did that the scrapes have not been touched. Just my 2 cents.
