I dont know when to mow...
 

I havent mowed my fields in a year or so. I have heard from a very very well respected hunter in our area. Harold Knight to let it stay without mowing. But I dont guess he understood that we are talking about johnson grass and such thats over 6 ft tall. Now when Im in a deer stand Im sure I would be able to see the deers head/antlers.

Johnson grass can be a pain in the arse. if it hasn't been mowed in over a year, there is probably more $hit in there than a shredder can handle. if it provides good deer cover, then by all means leave it alone, but if you need that ground for something else, well, you know...

btw welcome bigbuckdude, i have heard the protien is high in johnson grass though, but as mentioned it is a pita

Fire up the brush hog and cut alternating shooting lanes. And carry the gun while on the tractor just in case :)
