You can go to the manufacturer's sites and write stuff down:

www.federalcartridge.com

www.remington.com

www.winchester.com

I've down that, but was looking for ballistic graphs. And so far I can't find one for Winchester Super-x 180 gr. power point in 30-06. It'd be really nice to figure out why my gun isn't sighting in right with my new scope.

There could be something wrong with your scope, or maybe you got a bad batch of ammo?

RE: ballistics

This is what Winchester says that your rifle should shoot with the 180 grain power points. This ofcourse is with a 24" barrel.

@ muzzle.......2700fps.......2913ftlbs.......---
@ 100 yds.....2468fps.......2433ftlbs........0.0"
@ 200 yds.....2247fps.......2018ftlbs.......-4.2"
@ 300 yds.....2038fps.......1659ftlbs.......-15.4"

I hope that this helps some...maybe you have a shorter barrel? Maybe your scope is off? Maybe you got a bad batch of ammo? I don't know. What is your gun doing to make you think that it is off?

this should help you out, this is using the velocities Winchester/Olin say the load produces. Using my FN mauser 30-06 as the test subject, 24" barrel with the reticle at 1" above the barrel, 2x7x32 Vari-X 2. 2.7" high at 100 yds for 200 yd zero.

RE: ballistics

For some reason I would be on at fifty yards which winchester says is .1 inch lower than the bullet should be at 100 and then not even close at 100. I quit shooting after 10 rounds and decided I should figure out if there was something I overlooked but I can't come up with anything. I'm going to try a new box of shells and possibly go back to my old scope if I can't get it worked out soon.

afterlooking at thndrchiken's graph I think winchester had a misprint on the drop the bullet has at 50 yards and that's what was throwing me off.

I use this sight. http://www.biggameinfo.com/index.aspx

It has a decent ballistics calculator as long as you have the info to put into it. I use it quiet a bit for my Muzzle Loader when working up loads. It seems fairly accurate for me most of the time. Even when I am sort of guessing at the velocities since I don't have a Chrono.

RE: ballistics

Thank for the website Paul it confirmed what Winchester's website says. I think now I'm gonna try and borrow a bore sighter and start at 100 yards and then move in to fifty to see what changes. Hopefully it's not the scope.
