I'm just curious about what you're having happen - are you saying you're right on at 50, but off the paper at 100?

Yes, I go from a three shot group of about 1.5-2 inches to shooting god only knows where. I don't know what is goingon. If it was the scope I shouldn't be able to group like that, and everything on the ballistics says I should still be almost dead on. But something is definately not quite right.

I wouldn't be too sure about that. There are a number of things you should check. I would start with ensuring the bases and rings are tight, check the action screws, then try a different load. I can tell you personally, just a couple of weeks ago I was at the range and the 06 was printing 4"groups with a load that is consistantly inside 3/4-1 1/4". Checked the action screws and sure enough the front one was loose. You didn't say what flavor of firearm this is so it can be anyone's guess. The ww 165 gr pp out of my FN only produces 3" groups.

Do you have see-thru rings on your rifle?

I have a Remington 710 that dosen't have see-thru rings on it. And no I haven't checked any screws yet and it wasn't windy. The next chance I have to shoot will be the weekend of the 22nd so I should have some more news than

I've always had the best luck starting at 25 yards. Get your rifle boresighted, then get it so it is dead-on at 25 yards. Then move up to 100 yards and you should at the very least be on thepaper.

I just boresight using my bushnell boresighter and I am always on the paper at 100 yards and usually within 6" of dead center.

are you using a bench vise?......... or shooting freehand?............I know im a lousy freehand shooter at targets at 100yrds.....so i moved into 25yrds and was dead on.so that satisfied me

Be aware that if you sight your gun in using any type of vise device,it could result in a different point of impact than you will get using sandbags or field positions.Using a vice that prevents normal recoil can also result in cracked stocks with heavy recoiling rifles.
