stand locations
I am thinking I have my stands in wrong locations. I try and set up where there are trails, rubs, funnels, etc. I see deer from my stands some stands are better then others. I may sit in one stand and not see deer for several hunts from that stand. Other stand I may see deer one hunt after other. Is it normal not to see deer from a stand thats supposely a good location and not see deer that often?

RE: stand locations
i think stand hunting is a lot like fishing, either they are there or not. i'd be patient if i were you. if the funds allow you, try placing an attractent near your your stand during the hunting season. don't be to hasty to move your stands location.

RE: stand locations
Wal-Mart has good, easy to move around 16' ladder stands for about $100. I would invest in a couple of them if you don't have metal stands and then you can move them to a more productive setting.

:DThat why they call it hunting![8D]
I mean, I hunt places that I KNOW the deer are there and may not see them while I hunt. A mature deer didn't become that way by just walking out in day light. Are you hunting the wind? Are you using a scent eliminator? Making a lot of nosie? |
RE: stand locations
Very much so. I've had some flops in my stand locations, but if you see good, fresh signs, it's hard to believe that you won't see any deer!

RE: stand locations
You're probably fine assuming you're using as much scent control as possible. Give them time, they will show.
