Gun question
Quick question for any fire arm pro out there, I've hunted with my 30-30 for about 13 years now and love the gun for brush busting and tight spots, this year I've found a stand location that is going to give me shots at up to and just past 100 yards, do you think i will have enough power with a 170 grain bullet to make a 100+ yard shot with it?

RE: Gun question
1st deer I ever shot was with a scoped, lever 30-30 at 125 yards. It is a capapble gun at that distance providing you can get the bullet where it belongs. As others have pointed out, there are better calibers out there but the ole 30-30 will get er done.

RE: Gun question
You didn't mention how long the barrel is or if you have a scope on it. Also, do you sight it in at 100? If so, are you comfortable on paper at that range? The average barrel length on a 30/30 is more than sufficiant, but it's shorter than your average 30-06, or similar hunting rifle. Even with the shorter barrel, no scope, etc., if you are comfortable at 100 yards, then the 30/30 itself is more than capable.
