RE: Hunting Style
Stand hunting and ground blinds depending on season and weapon.
|
RE: Hunting Style
im a stand hunter during archery season but during rifle season with the exception of the first day i hunt deer drives
|
RE: Hunting Style
i do most of my hunting while sitting against a tree over looking a creekbottom (central ny)
|
RE: Hunting Style
I do mostly deer drives with a small group of friends. But if I was hunting by myself, spot and stalk would be the way to go.
|
RE: Hunting Style
I choose stand hunting but do all.
|
RE: Hunting Style
Truthfully, my hunting this year will break down as follows:
Still hunting: 60% Ground standhunting: 35% Other: 5%. I hunt too many different habitat types to stick on one style. Whatever works. In big woods, you're going to still hunt more. In funnel/farm country, stands take the lead. I'm in MT. |
RE: Hunting Style
I cant walk, climb so have to sit in a man made blind
|
RE: Hunting Style
I gun hunt out of an elevated, heated enclosed blind. I will also hunt of the ground or a tree stand during gun season. I don't like drives and am not really good enough to stalk. I don't like shooting at moving or alerted deer. I prefer the snyper technique myself.
Bow hunting is done from a ladder stand or climber, I would try a pop up blind and have done it off the ground as well. I hunt southern michigan in the shotgun only areas on private land. Either an inline or a dedicated slug gun (H&R Slug Gun Deluxe, first year with it). Paul |
RE: Hunting Style
still hunting is more favored choice, but spot and stalk comes in a close second.
|
RE: Hunting Style
i have never used a stand or blind. we do havetwo deer stands on our place but i've never used them. if you concider a ford f150 as a blind then i guess i have used a blind. my deer last season, i was shooting over the hood ofa pick-up.
|
RE: Hunting Style

|
RE: Hunting Style

|
RE: Hunting Style
Spot& Stalk eastern Washington. Nothing funner! Sometimed its stalk and spot. other times it's stalk and surprise/ambush/wake up sleeping deer in their beds.Sometimes, (mostly evenings) we will set up in a likely place and wait for them to come out while remaining hidden in some natural blind.
|
RE: Hunting Style
I do stand hunting mostly. North Alabama here.
|
RE: Hunting Style
Ground blinds. NE Oklahoma. I would do some stand hunting, but the guy who leases the land where I hunt prefers that I do not place stands.
|
RE: Hunting Style
stand hunting is about all i am doin this year,,last year i was on the ground 90% of the time,,,central Illinois
|
RE: Hunting Style
You forgot to include tracking in the poll. My time is about equally divided between stillhunting and hunting from natural ground blinds when the ground is bare. If snow is on the ground, I spend most of my time tracking.
|
RE: Hunting Style
Here in nothern Oklahoma-southern Kansas, I usually sit leaning against a tree...sometimes use a tree stand, like now during bow season.
