RE: Selling racks

Personally, I think there should be a law against it. All it does is promotethe cause of poaching. Just my 2 cents.

As far as the actual rack - nope - I'm not selling any of mine, nor will I ever. As far as reproductions go - I know of quite a few bucks that I would like to h ave a reproduction of in my house, wouldn't say I killed them, just would love to have them hanging because of their beauty.

I THINK THERE ARE A LOT OF WHITETAIL HUNTERS WHO WILL NEVER HAVE THE CHANCE TO HUNT A B&C BUCK MUCH LESS EVERY BE LUCKY ENOUGH TO HARVEST ONE ...WITH THAT BEING SAID I CAN'T BLAME SOMEONE FOR BUYING A REPRODUCTION TO HANG IN THIER OFFICE OR DEN AT HOME TO ADMIRE LIKE A NICE PAINTING ..

I like to kill my deer. However if you have a worldrecord or something thats a different story then i would sell it. But poachers are a big problem to think about.

This is a great post.
Personally I have scouted and found some very nice sheds. I see no problem selling what I find for money to invest in hunting. I have also found complete racks on animals left for dead(Poached). What does a guy do? Leave the horns or take them home and place on your wall next to legitimate hunting trophy's? Not me. I only keep what I shoot on my walls. Every rack has a story. I guess it really comes down to how you get your racks. Just my opinion.

Not legal to even sell sheds in Maryland. Lots of people do buy racks to use in crafts, knife and basket handles, etc. I even had a guy ask to buy some of mine to make pipes from. I wonder what he was going to smoke in them?;)

RE: Selling racks

I have been making an "antler tree" up at my cabin, and I need more antlers, so I started looking and bidding on racks on EBAY. I'm not looking for the monster racks, just normal fork, six & 8-point racks to help me finish my project. I figure I need another 20 racks. I already have used about 15 racks that were from the deer my family has gotten in the past. BUt if I wait to get more racks by hunting, I'll never get done with the project.
