Judging size of doe
How do you judge the size of a doe, especially at a distance and traveling by itself.

RE: Judging size of doe
I never shoot an antlerless deer by itself. Often these deer are button bucks. Always wait for more than one deer to present itself, and then make a harvest decision.

RE: Judging size of doe
Look for buttons and shoot the heifer. If I am specificallydoe hunting, a doe is a doe, and size is irrelevent.

RE: Judging size of doe
Head size,Body mass, yes alot of times a lone skin head with a short nose is a button

Long Floppy ears with a long dark face.

i think it's all in the nose. short stubbynose is ayoung deer. long thinnose is big deer. this about the easiest way i have found to make a decision onsize.:)

RE: Judging size of doe
Wait for 3 to show up and take the biggest. A lone deer is difficult to guess especially at a distance.

RE: Judging size of doe
I very rarely shoot at a doe by itself. I have a hard time telling how big it is. I like to be able to judge it with a couple of others.
