DEER SEE YELLOW
 

HUNTING ARTICLES THAT I HAVE READ IN THE PAST, SAID THAT THEY HAVE PROVE THE ONLY COLOUR DEER CAN SEE IS YELLOW. THEY TOOK RED AND YELLOW APPLES AND PLACED ON THE GROUND. THE DEER COULD GO STRAIGHT TO THE YELLOW APPLES BUT HAVE TO SNIFF AROUND TO FIND THE RED APPLES. DO YOU THINK THIS IS TRUE? MAYBE THE YELLOW APPLES SMELT SWEETER, OR MAYBE THEY DO SEE YELLOW. IF THIS IS THE CASE,I GUESS I SHOULD AVOID HATS AND COATS WITH YELLOW LOGOS WHEN BOW HUNTING. SEND YOUR THOUGHTS IF YOU THINK THIS IS MYTH OR TRUE. (IT'S BEEN TOO LONG TO PROVIDE INFO OF WHICH HUNTING MAGAZINE THAT WROTE ABOUT IT )

oo man ive never heard that..i just thought that deer were always color blind to any color..but i guess maybe its true..

IN THE BIG GAME HUNTING FORUM, UNDER THE TOPIC "ARE BLACK BEARS COLOUR BLIND?", WOODVIEW MENTIONED HE READ AN ARTICLE OF HOW DEER SAW GREEN AND BLUE. LUCKILY I DON'T HUNT IN MY BLUE JEANS.

Red appears like almost any other color to them as a gray. Ive heard they see blue very well, the color of my truck[&:]

Everything I've ever read said deer can see the blue side of the color spectrum....as well as the ultra-violet spectrum. An article I read last year stated this fact and to put it simply, deer are color blind in the same fashion as some humans are. They can'tsee the difference inreds and greens.

Rattle, you read right. If anybody wants to know
the facts, let them do a little research or ask thier
conservation officer or visit thier office. They are
going to learn things about deer that they did'nt
know.

It doesn't have to do with what's sweeter. The red apples would be more ripe than the yellows so that's out the window. Deer eat what's available. Don't overthink it - go into the woods and shoot a deer.

Though I haven't read any of the latest research I do remember reading several articles that deer do supposedly see blue and yellow but not red or orange.
