what does the .06 and .08 stand for on rifels like the .30-.06 25-.06 7mm .08 etc???

The -06 (aught six) is in reference as to when the round was created - 1906.

hey i got a question. Im pretty sure the springfield 1903's were a 30-06 so how is this possible if the caliber was invented in 1906

It was invented in 1903 but it was't incepted as a true caliber until 1906.

actually the M1903 (rifle)that used the 30 caliber bullets used 30-03 (30-45) in 1903 the rifle underwent some revisions in 1904/1905 and in 1906 it was revised to specificly fit the new 30-06 cardridge.

no...this is going to confuse you more then help you , the 30-30 was invented in 1893...
