DEER & BIGFOOT! What's that noise?

RE: DEER & BIGFOOT! What's that noise?
Now if you want to talk about cougars or panthers I have a great story about that.Three years ago while in my stand I had a big dark brown dog (I thought at first) walk down our road(where we drive in the woods)right at my stand. It stopped and jumped at a briar patch where we've seen fawns bed.I guess it was trying to see if it could make one run. Then it just turned and walked into the woods. All this happened less than sixty yards from me and I felt real silly sitting there with only a stick and string. We are way to far north for the famous Fl.panther so I called the Florida Fish and Game to see if they are in my area. They tryed to tell me it was a bob cat and I told them unless bob cats have long tails then it was a panther. Finally they agreed there is a small population of panthers that are not the famous Florida ones. It's the only time any of us have seen one.

I believe in bigfoot.
I don't believe in using your rifle as a spotting scope. If you ride to your stand without a helmet the only person you are going to hurt is yourself. Pointing your rifle at everything in site can kill other people.
Why would you use your scope on your rifle to spot with???? That is not too bright. The field of view is too small. You probable over look more things than you see. I'd be pissed if through a true spotting scope I saw you aiming your rifle at me. I wonder what you would do if you saw a warden (or another hunter) looking back at you while you were pointing your rifle at him. If someone shot you they could claim self defense because you aimed your rifle at them and were looking through a scope like you were going to take a shot. I hope to never see you in the woods.

For crying out loud , he saw a creature covered in fur so he got a better look at it through his scope. I dont think he mentioned anywhere that he uses his rifle scope to watch other hunters
I'd do the same damn thing under those circumstances and so would everyone of you , if you thought of it fast enough!

Tifford and anyone els who feels the same, I do get your point regarding the fact that some trigger happy hunter(s) may be more than happy to assume I am trying to shoot them or mistake them for a deer? inturn shooting at me in self defence.
However, to make the records stright this is not a normal practice of mine but yes I am guily of it. I would never do this on public land and when I have used this method on few occations it has been on my own land which is private, and though I would never think of doing such a heinous thing I guess I could shoot at a tespasser whom is on my land and carring a gun, so if i did shoot him or her, it would be in self defense?
Regarding your statement Tifford "I hope to never see you in the woods" I am not too sure what you mean, would you shoot me in self defense, or do you think I would be mindless enough to shoot you.
To set your mind at ease, neither of them. Because if I did see you you shouldn't be there and second in your own right I wouldn't like seeing a gun pointed at me either, however as mentioned before any thing you use is only as safe as you use it, My analogy about the four wheeler was intened to be take as this; If you get on your ATV with out a helmet just to get to your stand and fail to take extra precautions your risk a greater chance of injury, Take your time and know how to get to your stand safely. On the other hand should I choose to spot with my scope, I will make every effort to ensure that there is no way for a bullet to come out of the barrel of my rifle, no way.
On my land and with our hunting members we know where each hunter is located and know not to disturd this area during hunting times, we keep a 1/4 mile radious or more between hunting sights.
Point to this is, safety.
Again, your point was made on the other person who might choose to shoot me, in that case I truly wouldn't want to be in the same area with a person of this kind of impule.
I think you would be surprised who many people/hunters view through there rifle scopes, and if so I hope they use their good sense.
In closing should you ever be lucky enough to see this animal you beleive in and it is any where close to you, I would give you 100K of my own money if you were to take the time to view this thing with your binoculars, Safety... if the things charges me, well I'll let you throw your spotter scope/binocs at it.
And in the unlikley event that I were to see another person with my rifle scope I wouln't keep watching him.
KEEP HUNTING THE GREAT OUTDOORS & GOD ALIVE, PASS IT ON!

I have never seen one but I believe your story. It must of been a rush. In Louisianna where I grew up I saw a bird that looked like a vulture with a long neck and a head the size of a does. The size was staggering. It looked like a fat child in the tree. The height was about four feet and it was about 21/2 feet wide. I looked up every bird in the books and could not find what I saw. Some said it might of been a Condor, but this thing was bigger. You can only relay what you see and the burden is on them to believe or not.
If it crawls, it falls; if it flies, it dies.

For starters, I believe bigfoot may be real...too many unseen acres in the forest to know for sure...
On the other note...no preaching, just a story I heard just recently....a New Mexico elk guide (I believe) was killed by his customer after the customer shot a bull elk. The guide went to retrieve it and the customer stayed behind to glass, inadvertantly shot him.
Remember, beginners read these boards for advice...never point a gun at anything unless you plan to shoot it.
