When to put a feeder up?
Hey everyone, hope all is well I was wondering about and would like to get some opinions on when to put out my tripod feeder I'm going to buy. Gun season opens Oct. 29th in my neck of Louisiana. Thanks and good luck to everyone this season!

Dhunterinla,
I usually feed year around, some people start in early summer. This weekend I will be starting up my feeder for the first time. I am hunting a new piece of property and I'm getting a late start!

I run mine all year. . .corn is cheap. Don't need to throw but a pound or 2 twice a day. If you are just getting set up you might need 30 days or so for the Deer to find them and get used to them. Just like setting a new blind, you need time to settle things down.

I would do it asap especially since the season opens at the end of Oct. We feed year round but we have put feeders up during the season and seen deer at them the next day. I guess it just depends on if you already have feeders set up on your property. If the deer are use to feeders then they probably don't care when you put them up.
